Since so many AA

are sharing prison space with other cultures and races I have always been interested in this topic of discussion when it comes to the inequality of our justice system in America that is the direct cause of the disparity of racial population(s) in prison the state, federal and for-profit prisons. They are getting a lot of workers, mainly AA arrested for a misdemeanour warrant, a little weed or even harder drugs that whites get rehab for and parole usually if they are just users as many AA are.

Ramos and Serena got me to thinking. I have noticed a seeming uptick in Hispanics either running for office or under the cover of badge and gun openly hating AA. Is this a reason?

1. It's an unfortunate thing that does exist...some Latinx v AA racism.

In my opinion opportunities were missed by movement leaders on both sides to help bridge the divide in cultures and eliminated some of this if leadership on either or both sided had had the foresight to pitch in and get behind publicly each others causes and demonstrations.

Just think of the strong solidarity engendering symbolism of AA leaders and organizations taking part in undocumented and DACA demonstrations or Latinx leadership and organizations getting involved in Black Lives Matter demonstrations.

3. It's not the entirety of either group by any means. Small pockets, yes.

Think about it. Some are susceptible to the overwhelming and constant re-enforcement of anti-black messages coming from mainstream culture towards African Americans.

In other words, to cozy up to the larger culture by aping the racism towards African Americans seems advantageous to some. And that happens in other minority groups as well.

Some African Americans feel resentment from being displaced not just by the steering of of Latinx into dominating formerly AA neighborhoods, but by the actual displacement by Latinx as the largest minority group in the country. And that resentment has some irony to it as the larger society allowed undocumented people in to do off-the-books work in construction, lawn maintenance, household domestic work etc., but then turned against them when racist and scheming repug pols like trump saw a wedge issue to use to get elected. It's a been-there-done-that resentment by some AAs who've always been targeted and now see the targeting going towards those who were almost invited in until it became convenient to turn against them.

From either perspective, opportunities were missed by movement leaders of bothe groups to build solidarity among two ethnic groups who would have been stronger in solidarity towards each other than resentment.
