Title-For the countrys sake, Vice President Harris should step aside
snip-"The Kamala conundrum comes down to this: She was picked because she was Black and female, a combo tantamount to job security. Now that she has become a burden to the Democratic ticket, Biden cant fire her. He cant risk alienating his base. Full stop. The seriousness of this situation cant be overstated. Bidens diminishing faculties, notwithstanding his relatively successful State of the Union address, and his increasing physical frailty are concerning."

(14,729 posts)Harris, like almost all good VP's is nearly invisible. That feature comes with the job. The memorable VPs are almost all memorable for being horrible. Cheney and Agnew come to mind.

Hard to believe she 'received the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary in 2010.'

(106,471 posts)Apparently we horrible females (and with re: to Harris, especially female POC) are responsible for all the bad things that befall her beloved white men, plutocrats, and white women of HER generation...
Damn, WAPO. Way past time to do some house-cleaning with re: to your syndicated columnists.

(934 posts)...but this knothead is the first to say the quiet part out loud: the answer to Biden's poor polling isn't directly about his age or the economy; it's about the black woman standing in the wings if Biden can't finish the show. Why Parker thinks Harris should resign "for the good of country" when there's a wannabe dictator lumbering around shows how deep this stuff runs in this country.

(6,278 posts)There were people who said Obama couldn't get elected.
Now there are people saying that Kamala drags the ticket.
My personal opinion - Biden won't last 4 more years, and Kamala is it.
So, it really is Kamala vs. Trump. She's young, she's personable, she has minimal baggage. If we didn't go after her last time, we won't go after her this time. (Her career as a prosecutor bothers some people. HOWEVER, she was primarily prosecuting child sexual assault cases, and those people, if convicted, deserve what they get.)
She's going to the right places. She's going to colleges. She's going to abortion clinics. She did a cameo at the NAACP Image Awards. She's making it clear who she cares about.
She has the support of most of Europe's leaders, and many of Asia's leaders. She has met with them, she knows them. Hopefully, they will go to bat for her. She didn't do so well in Latin America, she didn't do so well with the border. But Joe is *REALLY* trying to make progress with that.
SO! It looks like conservative white women are going to slam her. Screw them all.

(87,705 posts)Nice hit piece, WAPO. Parker compares her to Sarah Palin? WTF!
This is not a partisan suggestion. I said the same about Sarah Palin in 2008 when it became clear, as I wrote, that she was out of her league. No one would have blamed Palin for wanting to spend more time with her family, including a new baby, I said. I ended the column with these words, Do it for your country.
Not partisan, my ass, Parker. F**K OFF you are a racist twit.
