1. Reminds me of me some 40 years ago

I was trying to impress a new girlfriend and decided to make sweet and sour chicken. So I got my recipe and I got my ingredients, and I'm ready. So I put the ingredients into the pot one at a time, in the order in which they were listed in the ingredients list. I didn't follow the instructions for the recipe, just loaded ingredients into the pot. At the end, I came to the directions. Too late. Whoops. Stayed in the friend zone.

About ten years after that, I decided to impress another girlfriend and make a flourless chocolate cake. Did everything just right. I thought. Mixed as directed, preheated as directed, etc. It's in the oven for ten minutes and I'm going over the recipe in my mind and realize I forgot the sugar - and I was using unsweetened chocolate. So I take it out of the over, mix the sugar in, put it back in the oven and hoped for the best. I was using a bread pan for the recipe, and what I actually baked was a chocolate brick. It was not a success.
We got married a year later.
