A father gets his son and daughter on a call and tells them your mom and I are getting divorced.

The kids are hysterical Dad you and Mom have been married 40 year's do not file any divorce paperwork until we both fly in to talk to you.

The father hangs up the phone turns to his wife and smiles and says dear they both are coming for Christmas and paying their own airfare.

I almost thought you were going to write that the kids said "Well, what took you so long?"

He had them all sent notifications that he'd died and inviting them to the reading of his will.

He was very wealthy, having made a fortune in alfalfa farming (he was a classmate of my mother's).

Imagine how surprised those relatives must have been to find out they were having a family reunion, not a funeral -- and any inheritance would not be received anytime soon since the "deceased" was alive and well!

Our daughters would just say, "yeah, right. What did you really call for?"
?

(And we HAVE been married for 40 years)

We just never found the time. As it was, my brother ended up being the one who invited us to our wedding. If he hadn’t, we probably would never have gotten around to it.

By the way, losing your partner after 36 years must have been the biggest blow that ever befell you. I would be a total wreck.
