Yet another year
has evaporated in
the heat of my fear
Grey January
kindles the flames of worry---
will I see the spring?
When frost times the pane
and the world beyond is grey
minds welcome numbness
On this winter day
my heart's hearth lies dark and cold
and ice rims my soul
Will my winter end?
Will I know June's warmth again?
Am I past caring?
When April returns
and greens the trees will I have
winter in my heart?
When one's springs number
more than three score and ten, then
each bud is precious
