I used to know this by heart

but my memory is slipping. It's always been one of my favorite poems. It was included in a collection of poems, turned into a handmade book for me, illustrated with pressed flowers and tissue paper artwork, written with delicate calligraphy, from a very special friend, over 45 years ago. It's one of my most prized possessions.

I have searched for this poem on-line (in hopes of finding the author) and have never found it, so I wanted to share it with you today. The author is unknown, unless by some miracle, someone here is familiar with this poem and knows who wrote it.

Introspect

Forgive me that I am so bound within myself.
I have been lost a long year, and so only lately found,
I cannot know you, nor begin to learn.

Believe me, I don't want to fear the setting sun,
But if I stay and let you turn me round,
Looking backward I might find the hiding place that held my mind,
And there return

I hope this reaches out to some of you the same way it did for me.
