True Crime
Related: About this forumAnyone familiar with a case in Lexington, KY, where in Oct. 1973, Rev. John K. Barnes
and his son and daughter were murdered? His wife survived because she happened to be out of the house at the time.
The Rev. John K. Barnes, an Episcopal priest; his daughter Francine, 18; and son, John, 14, were shot to death at their Lexington home by two escaped prisoners in 1973. The escapees, Wilmer Elvis Scott and William Sloan, also were charged with murdering three men at a Falmouth motel the next day.

If there has ever been a book about this I'd be interested in it.

(17,055 posts)I searched on the net and it doesn't look like one has been written. But I stumbled across a discussion about this when I looked to see if I could find a book about this murder.
Here is the link to that discussion. You have to scroll down the page a bit to get to it.

(1 post)the book you are looking for is "Kentucky Bloodbath" by Kevin Sullivan.
It tells of 10 different true crime stories from the Bluegrass state and this case is the one entitled "Rampage"
Hope this helps

(1 post)Unfortunately, I was intimately familiar with this tragedy. Years ago a prospective book was quashed out of respect to Mrs.Barnes. Its possible a future project could start since her passing.
