DA doesn't recommend charges in Harmar, PA, double stabbing
The Allegheny County (PA) District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday recommended not filing charges against anyone involved in a fight where two men stabbed each other. The fight at the Valley Motel on Freeport Road in Harmar was reported shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to Allegheny County Police. one of the people involved has been identified by name.
According to police, a 38-year-old man and his girlfriend, 36, were staying at the motel. They got into an argument over the phone with the woman’s father, 56, and her brother, 33. The father and brother came to the motel and confronted the boyfriend in the couple’s room.
Someone had a knife, and the woman’s boyfriend and brother stabbed each other, according to police. The woman’s brother had a stab wound to his abdomen and was last known to be in critical condition. The woman’s boyfriend was cut multiple times. The woman’s father suffered a broken hand. The woman was not hurt.
Mike Manko, a spokesman for District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr., did not comment when asked how or why the decision to not file charges was made. “This investigation is ongoing, which is why we would not comment any further at this time,” he said.
