Amanda Grace Blackburn killed during home invasion robbery, police say

Pastor Davey Blackburn's wife shot in head

UPDATED 11:46 AM EST Nov 12, 2015

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. —A former Upstate youth pastor has released a statement regarding the death of his pregnant wife, who police say was shot in the head during a home invasion robbery.

Amanda Grace Blackburn, wife of Resonate Church pastor Davey Blackburn, died Wednesday morning in Indianapolis, according to a Facebook post by the church.

A home invasion was reported at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to WYFF News 4’s NBC sister station in Indianapolis. No arrests have been made in the case.

"We found the adult female victim in the home unconscious (with) head trauma. She was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition," Officer Rafael Diaz said.

WTHR reported that Blackburn, 28, was in the home with her 1-year-old toddler, who was not injured. Friends and family said Blackburn is 12-weeks pregnant.

The victim’s husband, Davey Blackburn, was reportedly at the gym and found his wife wounded when he returned home at 8:30 a.m.

WTHR reported that three hours before Blackburn was found, a nearby house was burglarized and electronics and other valuables were taken. Police said it’s not yet clear if that break-in is connected to the shooting.

Davey Blackburn was a youth pastor at NewSpring in Anderson for four years before moving to Indianapolis to start Resonate Church in January 2012. He is a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University in Central, where he played baseball.

Why would hired guns commit an additional crime, increasing chances of being caught? Thor_MN Nov 2015 #3
Maybe they knew nobody would be in that other house at that time. nt raccoon Nov 2015 #5

around the same time, I don't smell anything fishy that could implicate the husband of the victim. The article says that the nearby house was burglarized 3 hours prior, meaning it was reported at 5:30 a.m.. It doesn't say if the homeowners were there when it happened, if they were asleep at the time, or if their house was vacant until 5:30. The pastor's report was made at 8:30 a.m., upon his return from the gym. When did he go to the gym? When did the other homeowners leave, if they did?

I'll bet law enforcement is looking into everything closely.

If they were hired guns they could have robbed a nearby house as part of their cover.

That would make no sense and does not bolster his alibi in any way. More opportunity to be seen and leave evidence would not be intelligent, but most criminals are lacking in that department...

His behavior really troubled me. His pregnant wife and mother of their toddler was murdered a week ago in their home. He smiled and laughed a lot, showed no sense of shock, anger, despair fear...

I'd really like to hear other's opinions about this. I think there's a strong possibility that this was a murder for hire.

This statement analysis is very interesting:

In videos on his church's website, he and Amanda talk about their troubled marriage. He talks a lot about his strong sex drive and comes across as narcissistic.
