Related: About this forumWhat will be the fate of Aaron Rodgers?
He's made it abundantly clear over the past 24 hours that he's done with the Green Bay Packers. The Packers have stated that they are not willing to trade Rodgers.
Does he wind up as the new permanent host of Jeopardy or what???

(10,317 posts)but rather a Jeopardy fan, I would love to see Aaron get the permanent host spot. I'm not a huge football fan so I didn't know much about him until he did his guest host turn. He's been my favorite of the guest hosts so far, and I could definitely look at him every weekday evening!

(3,577 posts)He's so much better than any of the other guest hosts so far.

(17,987 posts)I am waiting for the folks who excoriated Watson for wanting out to now come up with justifications for Rogers.
Rogers has far less reason to whine than Watson did. Same for Wentz.

(37,748 posts)It isn't gonna happen, but it's been his lifelong dream. For years Aaron Rodgers was pissed at the 49ers for taking a pass on him and drafting Alex Smith instead, but he's willing to bury the hatchet.

(20,148 posts)Even with Garoppolo still ensconced and freshly-drafted Trey Lance as the heir apparent?

(17,987 posts)Three firsts (with one of them being a relatively high number 12) and a third rounder, the 49ers have already shot their bolt. The Packers seem to think they already have their Trey Lance who drafted last year (Love).

(37,748 posts)His heart is, and always has been in California. Note: Rodgers Jeopardy! charity was the North Valley Community Foundation. (He raised a boatload of money for it during the Paradise, California fire, and now it's providing Covid relief for businesses)
Did the Wisconsin Cheeseheads ever make the Aaron Rodgers, Chico, Velveeta cheese connection?

(31,775 posts)similar styles and both placeholders (Rodgers because of his age) but Green Bay doesn't want him in the NFC.

(4,638 posts)He's way too often injured and they already drafted Roger's replacement.

(37,748 posts)Velveeta has a special place in Chico's history:
Herb Caen, the noted San Francisco Chronicle columnist, informed us Chico has Velveeta cheese in the gourmet food sections in their supermarkets. I attended Chico State and will attest to the fact it only happened in the Safeway store.
It was a running joke that went on for years

(2,859 posts)His contract is structured so that the cap hit this year is unworkable to cut or trade him, especially since the cap went down.
So GB is counting on him playing this year and then trading him tomove on just like they did with Favre.
If he doesn't report, he will get fined. If he retires, GB can opt to recover part of his signing bonus to alleviate cap stress. They may not as that might be seen as a bad or move, but it is within the rules if the CBA.
Neither he nor Watson will be traded before the start of the next league year because the salary cap us hard in the NFL.

(37,748 posts)If he walks away, he would be on the hook to pay back millions of dollars in previously earned bonuses. I have no clue how all this contract mumble jumble works, but I read that in passing.

(5,170 posts)it's fantastic watching the Packers turn on Rodgers just like they did on Favre. And the attitude that Rodgers hasn't carried this mediocre offense on his back for the past decade is also hard to understand from fans that usually know football.

(20,148 posts)Rodgers must want him back out of friendship and loyalty, not because he's going to be an elite receiver.
