Women's Lacrosse: Weekend Watch: No. 1 North Carolina vs. No. 4 Boston College
Weekend Watch: No. 1 North Carolina vs. No. 4 Boston College
Thursday May 27th, 2021 10:30am
A pair of ACC foes will collide for the second straight time in a Final Four. No. 1 UNC and No. 4 Boston College met in the 2019 semifinal a thrilling overtime Eagles win in arguably one of the greatest games ever played. ... It feels like ages ago and not just because of the pandemic and cancelation of the 2020 tournament. The Eagles roster included The Big Three: Sam Apuzzo, Dempsey Arsenault and Kenzie Kent, who graduated in 2019.
But this game isnt going to lack star power. Three of the five Tewaaraton finalists will take the field in BCs Charlotte North, who transferred from Duke after the 2019 season, and UNCs Jamie Ortega and Taylor Moreno. And then theres the Tar Heels Katie Hoeg, who likely finished just outside the top five in voting for the award. Its a game that could easily be the championship in any other season. But a semifinal game will do. Heres what to watch Friday at noon on ESPNU.
Is UNC Human?
No one blinked when UNC received the top seed in the tournament. The Heels have produced a 20-0 record, but their last two wins havent come easy. In fact, of the four teams remaining, they had the lowest margin of victory in their quarterfinal game, a 14-11 comeback against Stony Brook. And James Madison kept things close in the second round, but UNC won, 14-9.
So, could the Heels be human after all? Boston College head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein isnt convinced.
