Lightning shut out Islanders, head back to Stanley Cup Final

TAMPA — The Lightning are heading back to the Stanley Cup Final.

The reigning Cup champions continued their run of perfection in rebounding from a loss in the postseason, this time beating the New York Islanders 1-0 in a do-or-die Game 7 at Amalie Arena.

Their mission of becoming just the second team of the salary cap era to win back-to-back Cups remains alive. They will play the Montreal Canadiens in the final, which will begin Monday night at Amalie Arena.

Vasilevskiy is a monster, what a goalie.

Go Bolts!

And at the other end of the rink will be an equally hot goalie in Montreal's Carey Price.

So if those two cancel out, more or less, you have to like the Bolts' chances because they have the superior talent on offence and, arguably, in their defensive corps.

The intangible that the Canadiens bring is heart/grit. That can carry a team a long way. I mean, that and Carey Price's outstanding goaltending is what carried Montreal this far, all the way to the Stanley Cup. But I have a feeling that the Cinderella story runs out of gas and Tampa picks up its third championship.
