Is he a Hall of Famer or not?
.302 career batting average, 1,500 hits, 158 homers, 729 RBI and solid defensively. Not too shabby for a catcher who played 12 Major League seasons.

(31,775 posts)His efforts behind the plate alone merits serious thought. He got the best out of the pitchers and called a great game. An on-field manager (Bochy taught him well). Combined with his offensive numbers, he should be in The Hall IMO.
Retirement: not surprised and almost expected. He's a smart cookie. Leaves at the top of his game with his health, one would assume, still relatively in tact, a young family and piles of dough.
Huge shoes for Farhan Zaidi to fill. Is Joey Bart ready? Might Zaidi pursue free agent Yan Gomes?
