Donald Trumps New Jersey golf course will host an event on the world tour of a new, Saudi-backed professional golf league, despite concerns over the countrys human rights record.
On 29 July, the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, will host a stop of the LIV Golfs Invitation, a PGA Tour competitor backed with a majority stake from Saudi Arabias massive sovereign wealth fund.
The new league, which has other planned stops in Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and England, hopes to lure away professionals from the PGA with the promise of $25m purses per event, as well as a reshuffled competition format with less holes and so-called shotgun starts.
LIV has generated controversy among players on the PGA, as top pros are declaring their allegiances to either the established or the upstart league.

Most of the top PGA tour players have already said they're staying with the PGA.
Even Phil Mickelson who initially supported the Saudi-backed tour had to walk back some dumb comments he made about the PGA.

If I was to hazard a guess, I would speculate Trump et all. worked with the Saudis from the get-go on this LIV (54) golf thingy.
