The Dallas Cowboys agreed to the NFLs first cryptocurrency partnership after making an agreement with Blockchain.com, according to an April 13 press release and conference. The $14 billion global crypto website will become an exclusive digital asset partner of the team, the press release said.
The agreement will include extensive branding and marketing, including club space and visible signage within the stadium, the release said. The partnership will also include event opportunities, such as VIP away games and player-hosted events, according to the release.
[Its] significant times for us and significant times for the NFL, as well, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in the press conference. I wanted the Dallas Cowboys to be a future part of [cryptocurrency] in any and every way we could.
Fans will not be able to use cryptocurrency at games at this time, Jones said, nor will the Cowboys be able to pay their players using the currency, but he said he is optimistic both will be possible in the future.
