(5,655 posts)He has such a high tennis IQ and the skills he has are amazing. And he is so poised for 19.
And, to think Medvedev won 4 of the last 5 tournaments hes played!
I was so happy for Rybakina as well. She is just adorable!

(16,953 posts)we go every year. He was astounding. Med came in on a roll and had no answers. The one weve been waiting for is here.
The Med could not beat the kid standing behind the base line

(14,322 posts)On one point he'll hit a devastating fore, then he'll hit three drop shot winners in a single game. He absolutely decimated Medvedev.
If you saw his match against Sinner yesterday, there was an amazing point that sorta encapsulates all his skills. I'll remember some of this wrong--he comes to the net, hits a short volley that Sinner gets to and Carlos has to retreat. Sinner hits a volley and Carlos hits an topspin lob that's out of Sinner's reach and lands right in the baseline.

Carlos Alcaraz claimed his first Indian Wells title without dropping a set! The season's opening Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells has been reserved for the greatest names in tennis since 1990. The ATP Tour leaders, including Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, have had great success in the desert.
The Swiss and the Spaniard gathered seven Indian Wells titles combined, three of which came without losing a set. Federer and Nadal were the only players to wrap up a perfect title in Indian Wells before Alcaraz joined them last week.
Federer won the Indian Wells title without losing a set in 2005 and 2017, standing as the only player who achieved that feat twice. Nadal joined his great rival with a flawless performance in 2007, and Alcaraz followed their number with his incredible run in the previous ten day

It was flawless

(18 posts)Carlos Alcaraz didnt see this one coming. How could he have?
About to reclaim the No. 1 ranking, Alcaraz was pretty much pushed off the court at the Italian Open by 135th-ranked Hungarian qualifier Fabian Marozsan 6-3, 7-6 (4) in the third round on Monday.
Alcaraz suffered his earliest defeat since October.
Hed won 30 of 32 matches this year and was on a 12-match winning streak on clay after consecutive titles in Barcelona and Madrid. He secured a return to the top spot next week by winning his opening match in Rome. But he was caught off guard by how Marozsan dictated with spectacular play all over the court, including drop shots that Alcaraz had no answer for.
I just didnt feel comfortable. He made me feel uncomfortable on court, Alcaraz said. He was aggressive all the time. He was playing inside the baseline all the time. It was tough for me to get into the match, into the rally. I made a lot of mistakes that I usually dont make too much.
