the glove hid the action. It may have bounced directly out of his glove; but I think the glove itself would've deadened the bounce more.

I see his reaction kind of lifting the end of the glove.
That could easily offset the deadening of the soft leather.
I can't tell from this clip if that's a clean catch, or not. But, the umpires called it a catch. So, it's an out & he made a remarkable & lucky catch.
