The Florida Panthers, in a bid to prevent their arena from being overrun by Toronto Maple Leafs fans during their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series, are restricting ticket sales for home games to residents of the United States.

The Maple Leafs are known for having a devoted fan base that regularly shows up in large numbers when the team, one of seven National Hockey League clubs based in Canada, plays on the road.

But fans of the Maple Leafs, who are in the second round for the first time since 2004, will now have to seek tickets through the secondary market if they want to cut into the Panthers' home-ice advantage.

Man, this just seems SHITTY to me. The Leafs should do the same thing.

I guess what is actually meant is “billing addresses” since US citizens can be residents in Canada and vice versa.

me like Panthers are worried they might lose if Canadian citizens show up. I bet the M. Leafs have plenty of fans that are US citizens and hope they show up!

My alma mater travels well for D1 hockey games. The universities close by have gone to putting those games in a ticket package so that if you want to go, you have to also buy tickets to two different games as well.
