Judge grants WSU, OSU control of the Pac-12
A judge today granted a preliminary injunction to allow Washington State University and Oregon State University control of the Pac-12, a win for the final two schools in the conference.
I grew up where conduct spoke louder than words, Whitman County Superior Court Judge Gary Libey said. With that in mind, this court finds in favor that the plaintiffs are likely to prevail on their interpretation of the bylaws.
I'm going to order that the WSU and Oregon State will be the only two governing members of the board.
Today's ruling has its roots in September when WSU and OSU announced they were suing the Pac-12 and seeking a temporary restraining order as a result of being the only two schools left in the conference after this year.
The schools claimed that Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff violated the Pac-12 constitution and bylaws by asking current and former conference board members to meet and to vote on a go forward governance approach for the conference.
