LSU coach Kim Mulkey rips Washington Post over unpublished 'hit piece' and threatens legal action

Louisiana State University women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey ripped the Washington Post on Saturday over what she describes as a “hit piece” in which she has threatened legal action if published.

“This is exactly why people don’t trust journalists and the media anymore. It’s these kinds of sleazy tactics and hatchet jobs that people are just tired of. I’m fed up, and I’m not going to let the Washington Post attack this university, this awesome team of young women I have, or me without a fight,” Mulkey said at a news conference previewing the defending national champion’s upcoming NCAA Division I tournament game.

“I’ve hired the best defamation law firm in the country, and I will sue the Washington Post if they publish a false story about me. Not many people are in a position to hold these kinds of journalists accountable, but I am, and I’ll do it,” she said.

Refuses to give an interview for two years, refuses to answer questions before publication then threatens to sue if the piece is published.
She’s awfully supportive of her players, as long as they aren’t African American lesbians imprisoned in Russia.

Earlier this year, after a brawl she doubled down saying she'd encourage her players to do it again.
She's awful. Good recruiter, mediocre coach. They got lucky & won the title last year, but with essentially the sane team, they're just another team this year. Tells me a lit about coaching ability.

What a disgrace to LSU to have such a slovenly coach on its payroll.

The LSU coach holds grudges, battles everyone — and keeps winning. But at what cost?

TICKFAW, La. — In the two sisters’ minds, the old house remains as it was: a one-story brick ranch a hundred yards off the road, white fence under two ancient oaks, tin roof long before it all caved in.

Their father built on the farmland he had inherited. Dug a swimming pool, poured the concrete for a basketball court, carved two softball fields into pasture. His two girls, born less than a year apart, would grow up running and hiding and disappearing among the pines.

“I just miss the memories,” Tammy, the 60-year-old younger sister, says.

They’re in the backyard in her favorite, shooting baskets with Daddy by starlight. It feels so real, she says. So precious and warm.

And I say that as a long-time critic of Skip "My Cowboys" Bayless.
