Caitlin Clark is being used by 'so-called patriots' as 'avatar to lash out' at black women

Amid the debate about whether or not Caitlin Clark was snubbed for the USA Basketball Olympic Team, there's been an undercurrent of negative language toward those who have made the roster.......

'The problem here is, and what concerns me going forward, is those people on the fringe that do exist that are in real life - not just Internet trolls; politicians, pundits, and people of the like - who are using Caitlin Clark as an avatar to lash out at the people who they have disdain for: mainly the makeup of the WNBA, Black women et al.

And they are using her to go against Team USA. What is going to happen in Team USA, that is going to be the big tragedy here is the way that they are treated by those people come the summer.

'We're supposed to support America and American teams in the Olympics. I want to see that for this team, even if Caitlin Clark is not on that squad.'

It's not like Clark was left off the roster without merit - many believe that she is simply not good enough right now to make the cut.

She scored 30 points against the worst team in the league, but only 10 against the best one and had a minus 30 plus/minus during that game. CC had a pretty bad game against the best team in the league. Why does anyone think she would play well against the world's best when she can't even do well against the best team in the WNBA which isn't even an All-Star team? Plus, she is one of the worst defensive starters in the league.
CC might make the Olympic team in four years, but she is not even close to being on the squad this year.

You can go to the box scores to prove your point.

Wish there was a page of such info for the political arena!

She’s one year in. Now true, back when woman’s basketball started at the Olympics, only rookies went to the Olympics. That changed along time ago. Caitlyn should keep her head down and continue her lucrative work with her endorsement's this summer. Her time will come later.

As soon as the critiques started flowing about how Clark was being treated in the WNBA as a rookie, these racists assholes jumped on the bandwagon as a not-so-thinly veiled attempt to attack black female athletes. One of the sports boards I used to frequent was a cesspool of this type of racist crap.

And, I'm one of those who thinks the "not good enough" argument is ridiculous.
Of course she's good enough. She's on a terrible team & is trying to do too much.
On an all-star team, she is smart enough to not try to overplay.
There are 4 women on the team who, while more experienced, are not superior in skills, no matter the position. And, one if those 4 plays the same position.
USA Basketball made a specious decision & have opened up the rest of the team to this vitriolic backlash.
Doesn't excuse the backlash, but the selection committee is mostly unknown. Easy for them to make decisions in a vacuum.
