I hope DU will have a temporary thread set up so we can discuss and share our views on the Summer Olympics. Normally I'm not a huge sports fanatic, but I go crazy for the Olympics. It's coming up in a little over a month, and some of the preliminary events are already happening.

For example the Olympic torch is already being carried through out many areas of France. Many of the qualifying rounds (not medal winners) for different events have been scheduled and some are being played. Can we have a thread where we can discuss these exciting events?

Can't wait. I enjoy the Tour de France each summer for the sights more than the cycling. The Olympics in Paris will be so scenic.

2. I suspect, by default, THIS forum will become the unofficial Olympics forum

This forum can easily carry the traffic, but I suspect a ton will bleed over into GD and the Lounge, and the BIG stories may even make it into LBN.

3. I'm sure you're right - but why can't there be a forum just for the Olympics?

If would only need to run for a month, maybe. It makes sense to me, anyway.
