A dance popularized by President-elect Donald Trump appears to have taken the sporting world by storm, after multiple US athletes across the country brought it out to celebrate plays this weekend.
The dance was first seen years ago during Trumps rallies, during which he would play up to his supporters by pumping his fists and moving them alongside his body. Last month, it went even more viral when he decided to stop a campaign town hall and instead play some of his favorite music for more than 40 minutes, swaying and dancing to rally staples like YMCA by The Village People.
And in the weeks after Trumps historic reelection to the White House, that dance is being used as celebration for big plays, shots and wins for American athletes an unusual public celebration of the once-and-future president by sports stars that didnt happen much during his first term in office.
It first began the weekend after Trumps reelection when San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa a public Trump supporter celebrated a sack with the dance in the Niners Week 10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Bosa, who typically shrugs after sacks, was joined by a few teammates in the dance and when asked about what inspired it, he said: I think you know the answer to that question.
All the guys wanted me to do it. I wasnt even going to do it, but the boys reminded me. And it was fun, Bosa told reporters, per the San Francisco Chronicle.
Just hope the Packers can kick their ass on Sunday. 🤬 🤬 🤬

(32,165 posts)the NFL, it has maintained that the Trump Dance isnt a political statement and has no plans to ban it outright. The league allows celebrations that are creative but non-political, leaving networks to decide how much airtime these moments receive.

The Indianapolis Colts have been riding a rollercoaster this season, battling inconsistencies yet showing flashes of brilliance. Amidst their season grind, linebackers E.J. Speed and Zaire Franklin sat down for a candid chat on the In the Trenches podcast, sharing their thoughts on the league, their games, and some offbeat topics. What grabbed attention, however, was Speeds take on the infamous Donald Trump Dance celebration trend and his perception of how the NFL is handling it.
Speed didnt hold back when asked about the viral dance, popularized by players across the league. Man, theyre talking about getting rid of that joint. The Trump dance? Thats hate, Speed remarked, clearly frustrated with how the celebration is being received.
He felt the leagues approach was restrictive, hinting at potential fines or repercussions. While players are allowed to celebrate, Speed questioned the boundaries the NFL sets, particularly when it comes to Roger Goodells administration. Football is football, bro, but sometimes it feels like theyre just finding reasons to control the vibe out there, he added.
The discussion took an unexpected turn when Zaire Franklin, visibly uncomfortable, chose to redirect the conversation. Shutting it down with a quick, Bro, we gotta move on, Franklin shifted gears to talk about their recent game against the Jets. He detailed the unique energy at MetLife Stadium, reflecting on the teams performance and emphasizing the importance of staying focused on the field rather than off-field drama.
