About all most of can do is watch as this classic Japanese sports car enters the virtual auction block. It was one of only sixty or so that was imported with left hand drive and has seen a sympathetic partial restoration. It's now a new machine. A beautiful new machine.
Best to sit down before checking the auction site:

Lordy that's gorgeous with the covered driving lights and pop up headlights:

(19,300 posts)...but what I consider the best online car site is Jalopnik, where I first saw this Toyota. They focus more on new offerings in automobilia rather than classics, but feature anything of interest. It's amazing how many new models are introduced that I never heard of including what seems like a new supercar every month or so. since they're only marketed to people I don't associate with, I can view them in detail.

Though it's an online only publication Jalopnik has the weight of a first class resource. When a manufacturer introduces a new car they send one for testing to Motor Trend and Jalopnik alike. The site is decidedly to the left and as part of Gawker Media make no bones about being anti-Trump.

(11,775 posts)I once owned a little Toyota of similar vintage, which was amazingly powerful for a 2L engine. Even without powershifting, it would leave little chirps of rubber on the road going from 3rd to 4th gear. When it was over 15 years old and all but a wreck, I "raced" a new Suzukl (model unknown) off a light and was a car length ahead of him by the time I got to the other side of a wide intersection.
The point being...I have long been convinced of the engineering that Toyota could manage.
If you are really into cars, check out Koenigsegg, the new Swedish supercar.
