VW Manufacturing Plant in Dresdan, Germany - The transparent factory

I found this video pretty fascinating....it's amazing how a car factory for the 21st century can be built in an urban area, where the buyer can even help in building it if he chooses. The level of automation is mind boggling. While that has obviously impacted assembly jobs, there are a lot of jobs producing the technology to make such a factory viable.

It uses the public tram network.

Dresden is the only city in the former DDR that actually grows (except old east berlin), the rest is not doing that great.

Really impressive assembly factory. Robotics has reduced the need for people. It would be neat to see the component factories or suppliers that feed the assembly shop.
