OP
The pictured car is a 1973. The 1972 and 73 are similar except for the big federal bumper.

(13,805 posts)1. A s a youth I was into the big Gran Torino fastbacks.
Like this:
The 351 Cleveland Cobra Jet and a Toploader four speed. About the best highway car on the road.
Not real good on gas.

The 1972 fishmouth, like in the Clint Eastwood movie:
1973 was the last year for the 4 speed option. 1974 saw a federal bumper on the rear and the loss of the Sportsroof option. The original Starskey & Hutch pilot episode car was a 1974. 1974 was also the last year for the Q code 351 Cobra Jet option.
The black & gold TAs are bringing big dollars these days.

WASHINGTONTaking advantage of the warm spring weather Monday, Vice President Joe Biden parked his 1981 Trans Am in the White House driveway, removed his undershirt, and spent a leisurely afternoon washing the muscle car and drinking beer.

(19,324 posts)7. Joking aside, one of the things Biden says he misses the most....
...since becoming veep, is driving his vintage '67 Corvette.
He looks exactly like the people who typically show up at the car shows in old 'Vettes, BTW.

(13,805 posts)8. Couple of quotes from the C/D interview...
http://www.caranddriver.com/features/what-id-do-differently-vice-president-joe-biden-interview
C/D: Any cars recently zing you?
JB: My brother has one of those 556-hp [CTS-V] Cadillacs with a manual. He brought it down for me to eat my heart out. So I got in. I have a driveway thats about 1700 feet long. I knew the Secret Service wouldnt let me drive it outside. So I jumped on that sucker and laid rubber. ?A great feeling. That thing could probably beat my Corvette.
C/D: ?Sadly, we must ask about the Onion story. While shirtless, have you ever washed a 1981 Pontiac Trans Am in your driveway?
JB: [Laughing] You think Id drive a Trans Am? I have been in my bathing suit in my driveway and not only washed my Goodwood-green 1967 Corvette but also simonized it. ?At least the Onion should have had me washing a Trans Am convertible. I love convertibles.
