One cool thing. it was pretty easy to disconnect the engine and push the bus away to work on the engine...

Have their own cult following! High level of function, with a very "clean" design. Borrowed my friend's a couple times to camp at the races - went to work on Monday with it, before cleaning it out and returning it.
My derelict co-workers drank up the contents of the icebox at lunchtime "overtime" (all afternoon), and they were profoundly sad when I returned it.

I remember going on a trip with a friend. Broke the throttle cable at night in Twisp WA and he jammed the throttle so we could putt along about 20 mph all the way back to Bellingham. Arrived the next morning in VW bus.

It's inability to protect front seat passengers in a head on collision was one of the reasons for the original type 2's end of production here. I'm not sure how this is addressed in this new model, but it certainly has all the styling cues of a microbus.

Also appears to have solar panels in the roof under the surf boards.
