I felt the man at an auto repair shop was pushing ceramic pads.
I have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra he quoted $350 to replace rear pads. I always changed my own, but health concerns prevent me from doing it myself so I dont know the pricing now.
Is there a big price difference between ceramic and metal?
I dont drive much. A tank of gas lasts me two months.

(7,504 posts)then the price seems excessive. Ceramic pads aren't much more in my experience.

(6,027 posts)They lasted around 50K miles, then were replaced under the mfg. warranty.
For the first 6-months (daily driver), the brake pads would make a loud and awful squeal when backing down/out of the driveway.
Would not recommend.
I had them put on at one of those auto service centers that bears the name of a major tire manufacturer.
