It's a Chevy Malibu, which seems to be one of the most stolen cars in America.

it most likely will be with another stolen one.

to get under the car and use a saw. The steering wheel seems easier. And the most brazen ones do it in broad daylignt.

pop one off, pop in another with the key, and the car starts right up. So easy to steal.

(5,124 posts)10. They're taking them primarily for the airbag
A driver's side airbag module goes for more than $1000 new, so taking these and selling them to unscrupulous body shops is and has been a thing for quite awhile.
Most of the time, the thieves go in the car and just remove the airbag, not forcibly rip out the entire steering column. The Malibu must have a telescoping steering column, which would make pulling them out by force possible.
