Local paper had this on personal plates
The local paper had this story today on personalized plates;
Thousands of would-be personalized license plates -- many arcane and some profane -- are banned in Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa, according to lists of rejected phrases and character combinations obtained through public records requests in each state.
Some would call state transportation department bureaucrats haters, but they can't do it on license plates. Illinois banned "HATEME" and "HATEU," while Iowa did the same for "UH8ME," "H8KIDS," "H8HWKIS" and "H8IAST8."
Hate your state? Not on your plate. "H8IA," "IHATEIL" and "WISUX" are banned in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin, respectively.
Andrew Lewis, assistant director of the Iowa Department of Transportation Office of Vehicle and Motor Carrier Services, oversees the eight-person team that reviews personalized plate requests on a day-to-day basis. They use a set of administrative rules to evaluate applications
I'm guessing someone in the area made a big stink recently about not being able to advertise their hatred of the President, Democrats, other races, religions, etc and now the paper is explaining why.
And if you want to see what's not cool with Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin DOTs here's a
list of all the banned words.
