Shutout run ends, but Giants hang on for seventh straight win

DENVER — Your eyes did not deceive you. That really was Santiago Casilla striking out Nick Hundley as the potential tying run to save Friday night’s 11-8 victory over the Rockies.

You were not dreaming. The Giants did have an 11-4 lead to start the inning. The game really was stopped with three outs left and delayed by rain for 1 hour, 44 minutes. The Rockies really did shoot off their “postgame” fireworks during the delay.

This is mile-high baseball, where even the winning team can feel as if the marrow has been sucked from its bones.

“That’s a typical Coors Field win,” manager Bruce Bochy said.
