Why are Umpires becoming like cops...

...in that they feel some need to escalate tense encounters. Just like rogue cops who succumb to their own biases when entrusted to uphold the public interest, Umpires are increasingly 'pulling their guns' metaphorically and intimidating hitters and pitchers alike with their inappropriate ejections.

Is it some kind of end-times condition?

...was like one of those recent police riots where cops are caught on tape doing all sorts of wrong. Last nights umpires in two of the AL easts' most important games involving the Yankees and the BlueJays made glaring mistakes in judgment and tried to cover it with ejections.

Add incompetence to their arrogance and the game of baseball is lost. Can you imagine the game if strikes were called correctly? Some pitchers would have longer careers and some hitters would have shorter careers. At least the games would be decided on merit and not on the whim of some autocratic sociopath.
