...video replay which, as you know, is now in force. However, it still highlights how the power of individual umpires has corrupted the purity of the game.

An electronic strike zone is the next logical step.

P.S.

Though I didn't get thru the whole video, I saw enough of my team that I thought I should tell you that since those days we've gotten rid of all our 'hotheads'...Farrell, Lawrie, Rauch. And now we lead the division-what does that say?

However, it is a timely reminder at this time of year, especially if you are BlueJay fan and used to the anti-Canadian bias from MLB, to watch for the arbitrary power-tripping of "cops" and their need to control the game.

Ya know, you wait for the Umpire to go into the motion of saying, "You're out of here!!" and the reaction of the players and the coaches. Some of them just made me laugh, but I am sure they don't find it funny at the time. Some of these are really great,... and its worth watching the entire thing. Instant Replay has taken away some of that fight.. but yeah, I find these fun to watch!

And too many emulating Joe West who think the game is about them.

Far too many missed calls, that are obvious as heck on replay. And, replay has been around for decades, but my past recall is that even when an ump was wrong, it was generally a pretty close call that the ump just got wrong. Now, (like last night) i see an amp call a guy out at home and the catcher's mitt never came within 6 inches of the sliding runner.

I get how you might need a replay to see that the toe of the runner touched home just a fraction before the catcher applied the tag, but to call a guy out when he wasn't even touched, and it wasn't even close?

That's just shabby officiating.
