It will be a miracle if they even get the second wild-card slot now.
How did they manage not to improve the bullpen at all after 2015?
And how can a team stay in a slump the entire second half of a season?
Just don't get it. You'd have thought the ship would have righted at some point in August or September.
Still rooting 'em on...but it's already beginning to look like we'll have to wait for next year.

(37,739 posts)The Giants and St Louis won, and the Mets lost. All three teams now in a three-way tie at .530, and vying for the two Wild Card slots with eleven games to go! The time for my Giants get on a hot streak is NOW!

(37,739 posts)Then, of course, they HAVE to win the single Wild Card playoff game. And once they are in the playoffs, they just have to win more ballgames then their opponent. Easy peasy.

(37,739 posts)with a shit load of travel on a very, very, tight schedule
The teams would be seeded by they season record against each other:
The Mets went 4-3 against the Giants.
The Cardinals went 4-3 against the Giants.
The Mets went 3-3 against the Cardinals
Game 1: Club A hosts Club B. Winner is the first wild card.
Game 2: Club C hosts Loser of Game 1. Winner is the second wild card.
Game 3: First Wild Card hosts Second Wild Card. Winner advances to NLDS.
All this in three days!
