Man-watching Royals Season Preview and the special on #30 ACE makes my heart hurt

this kid was going places. I believe he would have been a CY Young winner this year or next. Kid was ON FIRE

His death was so needless and you can tell the guys really miss him greatly.

I don't follow baseball but my husband is a life long Royals (A's before) fan. I do know about that, is that who you are talking about? It is terribly sad.

he was in his home country of the Dominican Republic and wrecked his jeep and died.

There are rumors that someone robbed him while he lay dying.

No drugs or alcohol were believed to be involved

I sort of pay attention to the Royals (used to live on the Kansas side of the border) and I knew about Ventura's death, but honestly, the OP was a bit too vague for me. I almost never know what a player's uniform number is, and since I don't follow the Royals closely, I'm also not very familiar with most team members' nicknames. What I'm confessing to here is my ignorance.

And yes, I had read that Ventura appeared to have a brilliant career ahead of him.
