Cardinals ink 5 year $130M extension for Goldschmidt - That means at least 6 seasons as a Card

I am a happy fan today. #allthesmileys

At 26 mill per year, if he performs at his average pace, Goldie is still underpaid in this market, but he's in a worlds better position than he was...

Because he signed an extension early in his career at Arizona saying he wanted the sure thing - stability not risk.

Turns out he was more than a promising young player - he was a perennial all star and he cost himself some real money with that deal. This one sorta balances it out...

Be that as it may be, the Cardinals seem to believe that he'll be worth it well into his 30s and I am glad for both the team and for Goldie

Here's to hoping he stays healthy

Goldy was underpaid all those years and yet the ownership was still tightfisted around him.

Other than Greinke, they paid him, but they were forever shopping in the dollar general for all the other players.

You had Greinke and Goldy in their prime but your owner wouldn't crack open the piggy bank to make a real run winning some pennants...

And now it's over. What little window you may have had was given away.

Sorry, not trying to rub salt in the wounds, but I feel for you kairos12.

pissed about what happened. The Dback management gets a continual cover because the Suns owner is just about the worst in all of sports. The owner of the Dbacks is a Reich Wing crazy. That's all I need to know about him.

I grew up in St. Louis during the Bob Forsch and Ted Simmons years. I was there for the tail end of the Lou Brock and Bob Gibson era as well. I fondly remember the Mad Hungarian and unfortunately, Don Denkinger. I know, the Cards only hit .185 for the series, but come on already.
