Report: Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez Dealing with Heart Issue Related to COVID-19

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez remains out of action because of "a condition involving his heart," according to WEEI's Rob Bradford.

Red Sox manager Ron Roenicke confirmed July 7 that Rodriguez had tested positive for COVID-19.

Roenicke described Rodriguez as "tired" after the pitcher threw around 20 pitches in a bullpen session.

The 27-year-old was on track to be the Red Sox's Opening Day starter before the COVID-19 pandemic forced MLB to delay the season.

I'm actually surprised more players haven't opted out of one season in the hopes that they'll be able to play all the rest after we get passed this.

1. I think having Covid 19 will be a contract killer in the future.

It will, at least, lower player value.

2. Looks like he has inflammation of the heart muscle known as myocarditis...

which has been observed in multiple patients recovering from COVID-19.

Here's hoping it's something he can fully recover from in a short fashion, and do some pitching this season.
