(13,425 posts)I went from wanting Mo fired to wanting St Louis to name a sreet after him.
I may be emotionally over invested in the Cards, I admit it

(21,884 posts)I know a lot off people feel the Rockies got the short end. The thing is, what they gave up in value was much much less that what the Cardinals received in value.
From the Rockies Perspective:
The Rockies gave up 1 year of Arenado in a season they couldn't compete. In return they received a capable MLB-experienced LHP, two of the Cardinals' top-30 prospects, and a couple genuine might-be's.
From the Cardinals' perspective:
They give up prospects they had no plans for. In return they receive at least two and maybe 7 years of Nolan Arenado when they have a chance to dominate the division.
Though it cost them $50,000,000 the Trade was ultimately advantageous for Colorado. Sure, the Cardinals "won" the trade in terms of value lost vs value gained. It's hard to argue CO didn't ultimately improve their value in the long term.
I want to see 6th street Named after Musial! I'm emotionally invested, too! I was alive for 67, and 68. But seeing as I was under three for both series, 1982, was the first Cardinals Series victory I watched and remember. I remember watching Gibson and Brock with my mother. She taught me the game.
I was in the marching band that played for the 7th game of the 82 World Series. Because of that we got tickets for 1983. It just so happened the day we were there was Keith Hernandez's last game as a Cardinal. In 1985 my sister and I want to 15 games. She caught a ball that went from John Tudor's hand, to Rick Schu's bat to an obnoxious Phillies fan's face to her hands on a fly (not including the face).
I miss Jack Buck!

(13,425 posts)I came to St Louis in 99 - Well, Scott AFB IL anyway.
I grew up in SW PA 30 miles from Pittsburgh and 16 from Wheeling WV.
I tried to stay a Pirate too, fan but when you like baseball live around the Lou, the Cards seep into you
And I've lived in St Louis longer than anywhere else in my life, so Let's Go Cardinals

(21,884 posts)Prediction. Assuming there is a DH in the National League in 2021, assuming the Angels eat most of the salary (reverse Dexter Fowler), and assuming there are fans in the stands in 2021, the player to be named later in Fowler's trade to the Angel's is Albert Pujols to allow him to finish his career in St. Louis.
Nothing wrong with being a Pirate fan! Keep that tradition too. Nothing beats the bird's on the bat. They may not always make big splashes, but they do generally find a way to make it to post season in the modern era.

(13,425 posts)It'd be cool, but that is just too storybook.
I love the player development in this franchise, when a young player comes up he is ready and plays at an MLB Level - So even with few top draft picks we are always in position to fill holes from the farm.
That's a blessing most organizations don't have and it prevent the Redbirds from having to trade from a position of need
