Game viewing advice - Dodgers
Does anyone have advice as to how I can watch Dodgers games?
I'm in Santa Barbara county and am considered to be in the "local market" for the Dodgers - even though I'm over 130 miles away from Dodgers stadium. This is why I can't go in person.
Notwithstanding being in the so-called local market, I am on Dish Network, which doesn't have a channel carrying the games. Even their multisport pack - if I bought it - blacks out most of the Dodgers games for my zip code. (Only a few of the away games are shown to be available - many are not - and there's no apparent rhyme or reason as to why some away games aren't blacked out and others are. All home games appear to be blacked out.)
The various products to subscribe to baseball games - like MLB.TV Premium - get me every game in the universe...except for Dodgers games, which are still blacked out because I'm in that local market.
Apparently, the Dodgers sold local broadcast rights to Time-Warner cable. Time Warner is putting these games on their cable systems - in the form of a new regional sports network called SportsNet LA. So, everyone who has Time Warner cable in the LA area gets this.
But, they've only managed to sell this network/channel to a few other cable systems for broadcast in the L.A. area - like Brighthouse cable, DirecTV and Verizon FiOS. They're apparently having a hard time selling it to other local providers because they're asking some outrageous price for the channel. But, I'm on Dish network. I don't have access to any system that carries local Dodgers.
What ways are there for folks in the local market - but without access to cable systems that are carrying SPortsNet LA - to get Dodgers games? If I'm willing to pay a fee for it, what does it matter if I'm in the local market?
