Hicks' homer lifts Giants over Indians in 9th

Who are these Giants? What are their strengths and weaknesses? How good can they be? How hard could they fall?

If you want answers now, good luck. The 2014 Giants have not been what they were supposed to be. They are confounding, building a 15-10 record with six wins from their rotation, gobs of home runs and an almost comical inability to manufacture runs tied to horrific slumps for key hitters.

The Giants completed their first series sweep of the year and walked off with a 4-1 win Sunday when Brandon Hicks hit a three-run homer with two outs in the ninth on a 96-mph fastball from right-hander Cody Allen.

That was their 30th home run, the most of any National League team that does not play half of its games a mile above sea level.

Brandon Crawford, who drove in the Giants' first run, was asked to explain how the they could be where they are despite going so off-script.
