Trevor Bauer's administrative leave was extended an additional seven days Thursday as Major League Baseball continues its investigation into sexual assault allegations against the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher.
The extension, which came on the final day of Bauer's initial leave, was attained with the consent of the MLB Players Association. The MLBPA must grant consent for any extension of administrative leave, which guarantees players full compensation and service time while investigations proceed.
MLB and the Pasadena Police Department are conducting separate investigations into Bauer after a woman accused him of choking her until she lost consciousness on multiple occasions, punching her in several areas of her body and leaving her with injuries that required hospitalization over the course of two sexual encounters this year, the last of which occurred on May 16 at Bauer's Pasadena, California, home.

A relatively quick resolution to the investigations is not expected, creating the likely possibility that MLB would look to extend Bauer's leave again next week. At that point, MLB and the MLBPA would discuss the length of additional leave time.

Dave Stewart won't attend reunion due to Dodgers handling of Trevor Bauer
Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Dave Stewart said he has informed team officials that he won't attend the upcoming celebration of the 40-year anniversary of the team's 1981 World Series championship over the franchise's handling of Trevor Bauer in the wake of a sexual assault claim.
Stewart, 64, told USA Today that he was horrified by the pictures from the temporary restraining order that displayed the woman with two black eyes, a swollen jaw, a bloody lip and scratches on her face.
"The organization isn't what it was when we came through," Stewart, a rookie reliever on the 1981 team, told USA Today. "The Dodgers organization that I grew up in under the O'Malley family would never stand for that. The Dodgers should have stepped up in that situation, and they didn't. You've got to have character standards.
"I told them, 'I can't show up for that.'"

It's looking like Trevor Bauer has become Persona non grata to the Dodgers franchise.

(37,983 posts)It helps that he has a boatload of talent parked up in West Sacramento, waiting for the call.
Curious, Mauricio Dubón got send down, not for an injury, but because he was getting stale for not playing enough.

Dude admits learning from his mistakes in L.A. and Philly. He maintains the largest coaching staff in the majors too (and listens to them).
Webb and Sanchez are close to returning to the bullpen and rotation. That will be huge if both can retain form. Will they pick up another arm? I think they will.
