Giants' woes continue in Kansas City

Kansas City -- Parity and mediocrity are the Giants' best friends in 2014.

They have lost 34 of their past 54 games, including Saturday night's 5-0 nothingness against Kansas City. They were shut out for the 13th time this season. They have tipped enough caps to opposing pitchers to start their own millinery. They have become largely an impotent, station-to-station team.

And yet, at seven games over .500, the Giants are in a virtual tie with the Cardinals for the National League's second wild-card spot, which comforts at least one key man.

"Sure, you compare the feeling this year to last year and it's night and day," Buster Posey said. "It still feels like we're in position to make a run, and we know from the past if we get into the playoffs, you never know what can happen."
