Joe Panik's 2 hits help Giants rally for 6-5 win
Maybe the Giants have their second baseman.
"I think he's earned going out there every day, the way he's played," manager Bruce Bochy said of Joe Panik. "It certainly helps your decisions at the end of the year when looking at your needs."
The Giants didn't find a second baseman before the July 31 trade deadline, but they're more optimistic about their future at the position, thanks to a 23-year-old from their farm system who contributed mightily to Saturday's 6-5 comeback victory over the Phillies.
Panik went 2-for-3 with a walk, and his eighth-inning triple set up the deciding run. He also had an infield single during a four-run sixth and is hitting .410 (16-for-39) in his past 11 games and playing second base as if it's second nature.

Giant note: Dodgers have lost two in a row, and the Giants have won one game. They are now 4.5 games out of first place. Which is way better than 6 games out of first place, as they were a few days ago. Giants are now 64/58.
