Soto traded to the Padres

The trade: The Padres acquire OF Juan Soto and 1B Josh Bell from the Nationals for LHP MacKenzie Gore, OF Robert Hassell III, SS C.J. Abrams, OF James Wood, RHP Jarlin Susana and one more major league player.

There has never been a young player of Soto's magnitude traded at the deadline: one of the best hitters in the game, 23 years old, with two years of team control remaining. Soto's career OPS+ is 159 -- meaning he's created an estimated 59% more runs than the average hitter. The only hitters with a higher OPS+ through their age-23 seasons: Ted Williams, Ty Cobb, Mike Trout, Stan Musial and Albert Pujols.

Could be worse. Could be the Dodgers. Or Yankees.

Giants are the runt in this division. 107 wins meant that veterans all had career seasons. They are the walking wounded this year.

Big trade? No.

No "draw", and TBH, Wilmer Flores is the only player worth watching.

Pardon spelling errors. I watch baseball on the radio.
