Giants can't get healthy against ailing Colorado, lose 3-2
The Rockies are not just the worst team in the National League. They are a roving purple hospital that staggered into San Francisco on Monday night, with four of their five best hitters on the disabled list or unable to suit up.
A serious playoff contender should feast on a team like this. Instead, the Giants started a four-game series by beating themselves in a 3-2 Colorado victory that brought a lot of anger to the forefront.
Manager Bruce Bochy was ejected after arguing a called third strike to Buster Posey. Jake Peavy somehow was not ejected after hollering at home-plate umpire Doug Eddings over a strike he thought he deserved and a play at the plate that ultimately was reversed in the Giants' favor.
That ruling merely turned a two-run loss into a one-run loss that can be pinned on four Giants errors and a run-scoring balk that led to all three Colorado runs in the first four innings.
