Baseball
Related: About this forumI just wish Aaron Judge had hit #61 by game #154.
It would have put to bed one big long time baseball controversy. What we have now is that Ruth shares the record (60 in a 154 game season) with Judge - not still owns it. I remember Maris' run in 1961. It was big news. I was 10 years old and had met Roger in 1959 when he played for the KC A's. Maybe next year.

(57,471 posts)Babe Ruth, no shame in that, pride actually if you ask me, and he hit 61 ahead of Maris with several games to go.
I predict he'll his at least one more and have the record for the American League solely to himself...and to many, the overall record, untainted by steroid use like Sosa, McGuire and Bonds.

Fans like homers more than no hitters.

Teddy baseball had a career .341 ba, 43 hr year, in Fenway's long right field - [and minus 4 prime years of military service].
HR total # may be a bit overstated by hype.
