Related: About this forumIn 50 years of attending baseball games I have NEVER come close to
getting a ball hit into the stands.
I have better chance getting one watching from home.
I have my glove ready.
Wife thinks I've gone "round" the bend. Nope, just "round" second.

(10,125 posts)The ball went of the hands of the guy in front of me, deflected off someone else and landed at my feet. I was reminded of Bob Ueckers method for catching a knuckle ball: Wait until it stops rolling, and pick it up.

(17,808 posts)Dude literally maps out the likely locations for balls to land and buys tickets at games based off this information. He's prolific in his skill, for sure. I had no clue until I read an article about him that MLB actually has people at every game who go and track down the balls to verify them and place holographic stickers certifying their provenance.

My daughter almost got hit in the head by one but yours truly saved her brain.

(24,791 posts)from a foul over by 1st base at a Giants game a few years ago. I was in the front row of an upper deck. The ball was out of my reach and went to the lower deck.

(7,733 posts)Once in SD at a Padres-Braves game, mustve been 04-06 ish we were in center-right and a ball came right at us
. it curved toward Mrs. Potato and shit we all know a ball coming at you is scary as you-know-what
So this dude from three rows back topples over the seats and shoved the Mrs to the side and the ball deflected off his glove and down to the bottom of the seats
There was a mad scramble to grab that little sucker and the rapscallion from rows back came up with the ball!
The son who was with us is 6 4 and at the time an active duty Marine gestured to me should he, well, get the ball?
No, we nodded, alls fair in love and ball-grabs

(69,896 posts)One was homer hit by Frank Howard into the right field stands at old Comisky. It was Senators against the Sox.
The other, which I still have was a foul ball behind the dugout at Wrigley.
Hit by Ernie Banks. My dad caught it. I think I was 11.
My dad took me around back after the game and Ernie signed it. I still have it. It's sitting on the curio right behind me.

Many years later, got a ball handed to me at a minor league game by the third baseman - I was sitting in the first row and he leaned over the rail and caught it (it was a foul ball) practically in my lap.
That player was Giovanny Urshela.
