I have always liked them. Is there some reason for the nasty reply?

You must have missed how the series was being reported. The Padres were the "little brother" who always loses in the end.

Everyone (including this ~50 year Padres fan) expected big brother to dominate yet again.

It just seems preferable that if your team is unexpectedly knocked out, you would prefer the team who did so to go all the way, so it's still plausible that you were the second best team.

So, yeah, I did miss the "little brother" comment. Took it that you were downing me for liking the Phillies over San Diego.

Thanks for the clarification. I did mistake how you meant your post since I did not hear the commentary about San Diego being the "little brother." All is good...

It's a great quote/truism/whatever.

Many pundits had Philadelphia falling in the wildcard round.

for turning around that juggernaut of a mindset of the players. We have all the "pieces" (although getting a good closer has been a chore but has been improved), that didn't seem to be in sync. They were "players on a team" but not "playing as a team".

They sortof started that for the post-season and I really think that "branding" helped to rally the team itself to go that extra mile! And of course the fans loved it.
