Giants lose back-and-forth NLCS thriller on walk-off homer

ST. LOUIS — The Giants' victory that started this National League Championship Series was as straightforward as they come. Sunday night's Game 2 could not have been more different, a white-knuckler with enough twists to carry a three-hour movie.

A story that did not end well for San Francisco.

The Giants, down to their last strike, tied the game 4-4 against Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal when pinch-runner Matt Duffy scored from second base on a wild pitch.

But the Giants could not push across the go-ahead run, and the Cardinals did, winning 5-4 on Kolten Wong's leadoff homer in the bottom of the ninth against Sergio Romo.
