Piedmont man charged after viral video threatening cyclists

Calhoun County sheriff's deputies arrested a Piedmont man Thursday after he posted videos of himself online allegedly endangering bicyclists on the roadway, clips that enraged cycling enthusiasts across the country.

Keith Maddox of Piedmont was charged Thursday afternoon with reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor. His bond was set at $3,000, according to Matthew Wade, chief deputy of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

My younger daughter and son-in-law both ride. Some of their stories make a dad want to go hurt someone.

There was a video a couple of years ago where a couple of cyclists videoed an aggressive driver riding right on their bike wheels and intimidating them.

I used to ride on the county roads where I live but have begun just riding the trails. I don't do intense cycling so I don't need long road ways, I just ride for fitness so the trails are fine and I don't have to worry about aggressive drivers or stupid ones playing with their phones.

It's like eating raw oysters. I like them, but don't eat a whole lot of them.

I'll never understand the ones who feel compelled to yell at cyclists who are riding on a broad shoulder.
